Scooter hire and Bicycle scheme
For County Durham residents who find accessing available transport a real struggle
We are a charity that offers personal transport to people who find it difficult to get to, or sustain, employment, volunteering or further education opportunities because of a lack of available transport options.

Our Scooter and Bicycle services are for County Durham residents only. We classify County Durham residents as people from a household who pay their Council Tax to Durham County Council.
If your Council Tax is paid to a different Local Authority area, you will need to look for a similar service there.

How long can I use the scooter for?
There is a minimum period of 6 months. You may be able to extend depending on scooter availability and if you still meet the criteria.
What Insurance is provided with the vehicles and what is insurance excess?
All W2W scooters are insured however personal injury insurance is not included. Every rider agreeing to take part in the scooter scheme will be required to agree to pay up to a maximum of £250 for damage per incident or if stolen, written off. There is no guarantee if your scooter is stolen or written off that you will receive a replacement. If your scooter is stolen and you didn't leave it in a secure place in line with our terms and conditions, you may be liable for the full replacement cost. As a charity we will often not require this money to be paid upfront and therefore a payment plan will be discussed, agreed with the individual and implemented.

Prior to any rider paying for any damage, they will be provided with a comprehensive breakdown of damage caused and the cost to repair the scooter.
To comply with the insurance conditions, you must not have been involved in a motor vehicle accident in the last 3 years, convicted of any motoring offences or have any prosecution pending, suffer from any physical or mental illness or incapacity that impacts your ability to ride safely or would invalidate an insurance policy.
